View of the bar at Cafe Amsterdam in Anchorage, Alaska.
Cafe Amsterdam has beeen around for 15 years and is my favorite beer bar in Anchorage. It sports a fairly quiet atmosphere, no loud music or sports on TV. Unlike many other bars in Anchorage it’s not packed full at all times, making it easier to stop by for a beer or two. Draft beer selection is great, with plenty of Alaskan craft beer (Kenai River, Midnight Sun, Kassiks, Alaskan Brewing) but also other US treats, such as Deschutes Black Butte XXIII and Shmaltz He’Brew Funky Jewbelation. Excellent bottle selection too, ranging from Belgian Trappists to rare German beers. Food was good pub grub, service quick and efficient and the bartenders knowledgeable about beer and styles.
